When is the best time to visit Bluffton?

Bluffton SC - Visit Bluffton

Depending on your preferences, anytime may be a good time to visit Bluffton. May through September if you love warm sunny weather, and December through March if you prefer cooler temperatures (average daytime high is 65). Years ago, there was a true on-off season in Bluffton (Bluffton was considered a “sleepy little fishing village”), but now Bluffton is alive with many activities and events all year round. From classic annual events like Mayfest to weekly must-dos like the Farmers Market, Bluffton is vibrant all year round.

Tip: During the winter months some stores will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Make sure you call ahead to see who may be open if there are any stores, in particular, you wish to visit downtown Bluffton.

Tip: In the summer months many tourists visit Hilton Head Island and the roads are extremely congested based on the average family 7-day vacation rental. HWY 278 can look like a parking lot based on your arrival and departure. Plan ahead for traffic delays coming on and off of the island on the weekends. Typically, Saturdays and Sundays are heavy traffic days. We recommend coming in early or leaving late based on your family’s schedule.

Tip: Parking downtown Old Town Bluffton. When the parking spaces are full on the main streets surrounding downtown Bluffton, try the parking lot on Calhoun Street not more than 100 yards from the intersection of HWY 46/May River Road and Calhoun Street. This is a public parking lot with plenty of parking for you and your guests. If you’re lucky you’ll find shaded parking on the tree side of the lot.
