Water Excursion
Get out on the water and explore the May River with your family. Whether you want to go shrimping, crabbing, inshore fishing, offshore fishing, or sightseeing, May River Excursions has it all including plenty of opportunities to see the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins. Their locally-born-and-raised captains will help you create memories to last a lifetime. We recommend taking one of the Daufuskie Excursions and renting a golf cart you can explore the whole island (the island is 5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide).
Daufuskie Island is located across from Hilton Head Island and can only be reached by boat. This island has annual residents, seasonal residents mixed with tourists, who visit the island throughout the year. Rocker John Cougar Mellencamp has a home on this island. He and Meg Ryan are often seen getting on and off his boat at Old Daufuskie Crab Company, which is a great place to grab a little something to eat before you start out on your golf cart or bike tour journey.

Spend a day at the Sea Pines Resort
There are plenty of free activities to embark upon at the Sea Pines Resort, located on Hilton Head Island. Start out by taking advantage of the trolley to get around to your favorite destinations at the resort. Kids who love “bus rides” seem to get a thrill out of the scenic tour of the resort rain or shine. Be sure to check the schedule info here. Next, you can enjoy the free petting farm at Lawton Stables.
From there, you can spend the day the beach at the newly redone Sea Pines Beach Club. No need to worry about packing a cooler because you can get to-go sandwiches, salads, snacks, and cold beverages at the club (no membership required). After your day at the beach, check out one of the top playgrounds in our area-the Gregg Russell Playground at Harbour Town. The playground is somewhat shaded and includes a treehouse, swings, tons of slides, climbing and jungle gym bars. If you choose to go to this playground earlier in the day, it’s also a great place to picnic. There are picnic tables, bathrooms, and a water fountain. Before leaving the resort, you must take your family to climb the Harbour Town lighthouse. This activity costs $6 but is well worth it and a great spot to take a family picture.

Sandbox Children’s Museum
This interactive museum is the perfect place for children of all ages. Infants and toddlers can freely explore the space designated for crawling and sliding, while the bigger kids can climb and let their imagination run wild. There is a total of 11 hands-on exhibits, a weekly, staff-guided Imagination Hour and a variety of other programs and annual events for members, local visitors, and tourist to enjoy.

Ignite the Senses
This kids’ gym offers various activities for your child to explore. The art center is open all day for kids to find their inner artist. However, they also offer 30-minute courses designed for children to explore their creativity, but you must sign up ahead of time. Additional courses for your child are yoga/fitness classes and Kids Rock Music Therapy programs. Being that our tagline is “Living Like A Rock Star” we recommend the Rock Music Therapy. Tattoos are optional!

Coastal Discovery Museum
Enjoy marsh boardwalks, open fields, gardens, and trails at the Coastal Discovery Museum. Here one can explore the natural history, cultural heritage, and animal programs on this 68 acre Honey Horn property. The butterfly habitat is 1200 square feet and home to 13 species of native butterflies to the Lowcountry. Experience the Marsh Tacky horses and the majestic beauty of the museum’s trails, gardens, and live oaks.

Station 300 Bowling
This bowling alley and arcade will keep your family entertained for hours! No need to sweat about the kids keeping up with quarters for the arcade machines. Reloadable cards are available for purchase for the children to use to play games. They offer a per game and hourly rates for bowling, so you can pick the best fees for you and your family. Enjoy drinks from the full bar or sit down and enjoy a meal the restaurant located inside called Zeppelins. Live entertainment is available on select days (check their calendar for events). We recommend Station 300 Bowling for rainy days and days you want to take a break from the heat of early afternoons at the beach.
